TOO fresh.

This is so December.

I’ve been saving this one for a while…

Every song can mean something different to each listener. For me this is a really relaxed Monday off when I don’t have to get anything done. No pressure to do one thing or the other, and no stress about work coming up the day after. Everything just flows, and time seems to last as long as it should.

What goes through your mind when you hear this? Do enjoy.

Our man Reach dropped this one a few weeks back. An enjoyable listen. It’s hot! It has a little bit of everything. And it’s self produced?? Fresh.

Alright… It’s been a while.

A few weeks back I was at a music festival in Halifax, Canada, and had the pleasure of listening to a local act and legendary Canadian Hip-hop group called Universal Soul. You may not have heard about Universal Soul, as I hadn’t, but they have been steady rocking in the background since the mid 80s. Apparently they’re one of Classified’s main influences. But more than that, it’s good to witness acts like these who are relics in their own zone, so much so that they put way more effort into winning the hearts and minds of their local fans than on achieving global fame. The song that caught my ear was “Where I’m From”, which I was able to get a small clip of. But to appease your curiosity about this group, I’ll feature their song “Back and Forth”, which is just as moving. These cats put Halifax on the map before many others, and believe me when I say that the people where they’re from appreciate their dedication to their roots. It was a beautiful sight to see. Enjoy!

Any of you heard this yet?? Lady Leshurr seems to have a good formula going, and I don’t see how anything could get in her way. Maybe that’s it. Maybe that’s “the juice”?? You gotta love a good shine-on-the-haters song.

Happy Monday to all…

Woke up last Monday feeling a bit down, very tired, and felt like I was buckling under that week’s stress before it even started. Didn’t want to face the world! It was going to be a challenging day I would have liked a longer weekend, or a longer sleep for that matter. We all know how it is!

So what did I do? I reached for a tried, tested and true remedy for me, which is positive hip-hop. There was a time when I would have started bumping some hardcore tunes and just gritted my teeth through it, angry and all. But that’s even more exhausting, and that’s no way to start the week. Nowadays I’m really digging the positive energy, and The Shinsight Trio never disappoints.

Ocean Skyline, from their album Moonlight Sunrise, was a true blessing that morning out of the many great Shinsight Trio songs I listened to that morning. Takes your mind right away, and like a quick vacation, sometimes that’s all you need to get you started.

Hope you enjoy this one like I did.
