Disclaimer: The song is catchy but Nas’ history game is off on this one. Alexander the “Great” did not destroy the Sphinx’s nose out of racism. First of all, he wasn’t a racist (white supremacy didn’t exist in the 4th Century BC) and second of all, there were numerous drawings of the Sphinx from after Alexander’s time that show the intact face of an Africoid woman. In the later sketches things start to get shady. How and when the nose was destroyed has still not been concluded. For more info, click here.
